Mother's Day Brunch - May 8, 2010
The Lord gave us a beautiful time together for our
Mother’s Day Brunch on Saturday, May 8th, 2010. Thirty-three
ladies and girls attended, and there were several guests attending:
mothers (even one mother from out of state!), mothers-in-law,
grandmothers, daughters, daughters-in-law, granddaughters, and friends. We
even had one little baby boy attending, but he didn’t seem to mind all the
admiring females around him!
Kathi Banholzer planned and put together the special
day and Casey Knupp helped her. Diana Psotka made beautiful hand sewn
“goodie bags” for each lady. Even the girls had a special present to take
home from the brunch!
The ladies brought various brunch foods. After
eating, we played a fun memory game in which we tried to write from memory
the items that Beth Oliver had pinned to her special apron. We also had
some lovely special music by Anna and Mary Oliver. They played a duet of
“Onward Christian Soldiers” on the keyboard.
The fellowship hall was decorated with the theme of
butterflies and flowers; it was so pretty! The theme verse for the brunch
was Proverbs 31:10: “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far
above rubies.”
Our devotional was given by four ladies who each read
several verses from Proverbs 31 and then gave a five minute comment on
their verses. The ladies were (in order of speaking): Becky Cox, Valerie
Hatcher, Cindy Lucas, and Jennifer Estabrook. The ladies gave wonderful
insights into the passage and challenges for each of us to be the type of
lady/girl that God wants us to be. The Gospel was also given clearly as we
remembered the great love of God the Father in sending His only Son, the
Lord Jesus, to die on the cross and take the penalty for each of our sins.
He suffered so much for us, and He is alive today! If we trust in Him as
our personal Savior, He will wash our sins away, and we can have eternal
life and the power to live a godly life in which we seek to point others
to Christ for their salvation!
Our next ladies’ activity will be the Dove Fellowship
on Saturday, June 5th. Watch the bulletin for details, and make
plans to come!
