I. GENERAL
1. Music should be a ministry. Aim at
serving, not performing.
2. Be faithful to choir rehearsals.
3. Be faithful to church services.
4. Be in your place when the prelude
begins.
5. Be a good example:
· Sing congregational songs
· Pray during congregational
prayers
· Minimize talking
6. Appearance
· Ladies: modest necklines &
hemlines
· Guys: a tie for morning
services, a collared shirt for evening services
· Everyone: no tennis shoes, no
jeans, always smiles
7. Return all music to your choir
box.
8. Use your own books.
9. Avoid copying music.
II. SPECIAL MUSIC
1. All specials come from choir
members.
2. Choose and prepare your own
special music.
3. Weekly rehearsal for 5 songs,
beginning 3 weeks before presentation in PM service
4. Groups: sit together with music
prior to going to platform
5. Be in place to sing prior to the
completion of the congregational song
6. Sing in children’s church
III. ACCOMPANISTS
1. How to think
· Follow, don’t lead
· Cover mistakes – make others
better
2. Be in your choir place prior to
the completion of the congregational song
3. Congregational accompaniment
· Two will be designated
accompanists; one leads, the other follows
· The leader will:
- Choose to play either the
piano or Clavinova
- Be responsible for prelude,
intros, invitation, postlude, Lord’s Supper
- Mentor other instrumentalists
in your service
