Valerie Hatcher gave a wonderful devotional speaking about Samantha’s (the new baby’s) name, and how we all can apply the meaning of her name in our own lives. Samantha means “she who listens”. Valerie pointed out that we can listen to the Word of God, we can listen to good music and teaching, and we can listen to others and care. She also emphasized that we need to teach our children to love and respect their Daddy and other authority figures in their lives, such as Sunday school teachers, etc. Valerie pointed out that the first step in being able to listen to the Lord is to take the step of trusting the Lord Jesus as our personal Savior, and she gave a clear Bible presentation of how a person can be saved.
Michelle Donahue prepared a cute game, again on the “Cat in the Hat” theme, of “What’s in Your Purse?” She also prepared one or more coupons for each guest to fill out in which we promised to give Casey some gift from ourselves (such as prayer, a meal, “girls’ day out”, etc.) in order to be a blessing to her as Christian sisters.
Casey received many nice, thoughtful gifts. Thank you to each of you ladies and children who took the time to come to her shower.
